PUBG Global Invitational 2018 coming this year

Featuring a $2 million USD prize pool.
Sam Bishop 24 avril 2018

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has had large scale tournaments in the past, such as those at the Intel Extreme Masters events in Oakland and Katowice, and now PUBG Corp. (as reported by Polygon) has announced it will host the first official esports tournament for the game later this year, called the PUBG Global Invitational 2018.

This competition will take place in Berlin from July 25 to 29 and host a staggering $2 million USD prize pool, which 20 professional teams will be competing for, coming from Europe, North America, and Asia to do so. Regional tournaments will decide who participates, and then two teams will be crowned world champions; one for first-person, and one for third-person.

An in-game camera system will help broadcasters display the action, as will the replay system, and all of this marks a dramatic upscaling from PUBG Corp.'s previous tournament at Gamescom last year, which featured a $350,000 prize pool.

Is PUBG an esport that's here to stay?
