Ultimate Quaran-Team is the creation of Leyton Orient FC, a small London-based football club that, like so many others, is restricted from competitive play while the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to spread around the world.

The club put out a call to fellow football teams, trying to gather enough entrants to host an online tournament on FIFA 20. The reaction they received was huge, with 128 clubs signing up for the event, including Premier League champions Man City and teams from across the football leagues, as well as teams from around Europe, America, Australia and Africa.

According to the official description for the event, there's a Just Giving page where people can donate, with 75% of the funds going to EFL clubs that are going to struggle without the gate money that keeps them afloat, with the rest split between Mind and a COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fundraiser by WHO.

"This provides a fantastic opportunity to play a small part in providing some engaging content with football fans at this very difficult time," Leyton chief exec Danny Macklin wrote. "Furthermore and perhaps even more importantly it's a chance to raise much needed funds for EFL clubs and two phenomenal causes."

Updates can be found on Twitter, where it was revealed last night that the first round will hopefully start this weekend on Sunday.
