We already knew that the Overwatch League is expanding with Guangzhou and Atlanta teams, but now SportsBusiness Daily has reported that a Toronto franchise is now in the works as well, which will be sold to a group including esports organisation Splyce as well as investor Michael Kimel.
Splyce is allegedly partnering with OverActive Media Group to create a new ownership body, with Kimel and Westdale Construction providing extra capital. Splyce will operate the team and own a 10% stake, according to report, and the deal is likely to be finalised very soon, with the price expected to be around the $35 million USD mark.
