The groups for the Call of Duty World League Global Pro League have been drawn, which will choose which teams face each other in the first season of the league, starting in Ohio on April 21.
These 16 teams are the top in the world based on pro points, comprising of nine from North America, six from Europe, and one from APAC (Asia-Pacific), divided into four coloured groups. These groups are as follows:
Red Group
Team EnVyUs
Splyce
Cloud9
Mindfreak
Blue Group
FaZe Clan
Rise Nation
Fnatic
Evil Geniuses
Yellow Group
eUnited
Luminosity Gaming
Millenium
Epsilon Esports
Green Group
OpTic Gaming
Red Reserve
Enigma6
Elevate
The red group will play from April 21 to 23; blue from April 28 to 30; yellow from May 5 to 7; and green from May 12 to 14. After that, the top two teams will go to double elimination playoffs from May 25 to 28, with third place teams at least earning a spot in the second season of the league. Last place teams, however, will have to fight for that privilege in the relegation tournament on June 15.
Australian team Mindfreak, the one APAC team, is placed in a group with defending world champions Team EnVyUs, which isn't ideal for them, but no doubt OpTic Gamings opponents will be dreading to face them as well, since they've won two tournaments, CWL Paris and CWL Dallas, in the last few months.
Who do you think could surprise us in this tournament?
