At the EA Play Live event last night, Respawn announced the second season of the Apex Legends Global Series. This event that will feature both a Pro League and a Challenger Circuit will boast an increased prize pool of $5 million, and will be bringing crossplay so that PC and console players can both compete for a spot at the reward.

The Pro League section will actually be starting later this year, with the Pro League Split 1 between October and December. This will feed into a Split 1 Playoffs in January 2022, as well as a Pro League Split 2 between February and March 2022. We're also told that Split 2 will have its own Playoffs in May, and that this will mark the end of regular season play, as the proceedings for the next ALGS Championship will start in May as well - with the main event scheduled for July 2022.

The Challenger Circuit will run parallel to the Pro League regular season and will provide competing teams a shot in the next Split of competition.

As for how the $5 million will be split up, we're told that the first Playoffs will feature a $1 million prize pool, the second a $1.5 million prize pool, and the ALGS Championship featuring $2 million in cash prizes. It isn't mentioned where the remaining $500,000 will be distributed.

The blog post, which goes into the Pro League, Challenger Circuit and the prize distribution a little further, also notes that the ALGS is expanding into more countries and territories, making it even easier for people to join in and compete.

In other Apex Legends news, the launch trailer for the next season, Emergence was shown last night, and the BLAST Titans event will be taking place later today.
