Maria Creveling, a young esports pro who competed under the name Remilia, has died aged just 24. According to short statements shared by friends and the official LCS Twitter, Creveling passed away peacefully in her sleep earlier this week.

Back in 2015, Creveling made history by being the first woman to compete in the male-dominated League of Legends Championship Series, where her team Renegades lost out to Team Liquid. Sadly, Creveling left the team the following year, citing harassment as a reason for her departure.

In 2017 Creveling joined Kaos Latin Gamers but had to leave after one appearance due to an issue with her vocal cords, and according to Kotaku she competed in the Twitch Rivals Team Draft last month and she was a regular streamer.

Our condolences go out to anyone affected by this tragedy.
